Piercing the Corporate Veil

Under most circumstances, individual shareholders in a business are protected from corporate liabilities by the corporate shield. That shield is commonly referred to as the corporate veil. Under certain circumstances, however, a plaintiff may sue individual shareholders, officers and directors, in an effort to claim the individual is personally liable for the corporate debt. This is often referred to as lifting or piercing the corporate veil. Our firm has extensive experience litigating on behalf of plaintiffs and individual shareholders, officers and/or directors involved in claims whereby the plaintiff attempts to take action against corporate shareholders, officers and/or directors.

Collections for Medical Providers

Kerr & Hendershot represents medical professionals, health care providers, ancillary service providers, health care entities, surgery centers, free standing emergency centers and other medical providers who enter into third-party payor agreements with insurance companies, and those without contracts (out-of-network providers), in connection with collecting payments due from the insurance carriers for service providers. We may file suit against the insurance company for causes of action including violation of the Prompt Payment of Claims Act and breach of third party payor agreements.
